Black Forest Cake - My #1 Favourite




Tapi yang herannya, mak kata ni kek zaman dulu, zaman mak muda-muda. Neway, saya suka sangat kek ni, dia tak manis sangat, pastu ada dark cherries dekat each layer, rasa masam-masam manis. Tapi saya tak berapa suka cherry yang kaler merah tu, walaupun memang dia yang mencantikkan kek ni  ... Nanti Kak Ngah nak kek ni untuk birthday Kak Ngah, ye mak ??? Sayang mak ..

Chocolate Chiffon Cake

(A)
30 gms cocoa powder
1/2 cup hot water

(B)
4 egg yolks
100 gms caster sugar
130 gms self-raising flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp soda bikarbonate
1/4 cup oil
1 tsp vanilla essence


(C)
4 egg whites
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
65 gms caster sugar

  • Dissolve cocoa powder in hot water and set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, add in egg yolk, oil, sugar, all the dry ingredients and melted cocoa powder. Beat until smooth.
  • In another bowl, beat egg whites, cream of tartar and sugar until fluffy.
  • Fold in egg yolk mixture into (C). Divide into 2.
  • Bake in 9" round tin at 180'C for 25 minutes each. 

Filling


(A)
350 gms whipping cream
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla essence

(B) Mix together :
1 tbsp gelatin
1/4 cup hot water


Decoration


1 can pitted dark cherries (425 gms) - drained
maraschino cherries
chocolate
  • Beat (A)
  • Add in (B)

Assembly

  • Slice cake into 2 layers each and sandwich each layer with filling and dark cherries.
  • Finish off the top layer with filling only.
  • Decorate with maraschino cherry & chocolate.
